Harrison Hot Springs Getaway
One thing COVID has taught us is not to take the little things for granted. Traveling has become impossible and we’re having to be a little creative in what we consider a getaway.
One thing we’ve definitely learned is to appreciate the beauty we have in our own backyard and being from British Columbia there’s so many amazingly beautiful places. Now is a better time than any to discover them! (All while fully following safety guidelines by your province of course.)
I had so many questions about our last trip to Harrison Hot Springs so I wanted to make it easy for anyone thinking of visiting. With it only being a couple of hours away it would be assumed that it would be a place that we frequent but to be honest my husband and I both had not been there since we were kids.
I decided I would surprise my husband with a little getaway for his birthday and it would also give the kids an opportunity to have a vacation during their summer break.
HOTEL:
I booked the Harrison Hot Springs Resort a few days before leaving and I have a few tips for anyone visiting.
Travel during the week if possible - less busy
Book rooms in the East tower with lake or village views - newer rooms
No need to book pool time - 3 pools to choose from
To make this an honest review I have to also say there were a few things that I should acknowledge:
Rooms: 3 Star
Check In : 2 hours late
No Concierge
(Understandably this trip was during COVID times and procedures need to be followed)
BEACH LIFE:
One of my favorite things to do at Harrison is to find a spot on the beach, soak in the sun and splash around in the lake. The kids had 2 amazing days at the beach but if you plan of spending the day there these would be my list of must haves:
Sun shade tent
Drinking water
Floaties for the water
Sand toys
Sunglasses
Life jackets for the kids
Beach Blanket
Towels
Sunscreen
The beach also offers great amenities:
Playground for kids
Outdoor gym area
Restrooms and Showers
BBQ areas available
$3 hour parking/ $12 for 6 hours
RESTAURANTS:
Overall, we had an amazing experience for food on the strip. Our recommendation would be to make reservations at the restaurants as they are all smaller venues.
NEXT TIME:
There were a few things we had on our to-do list but we didn’t find the time, so next time:
The great thing about traveling here was we realized how easy it would be to do day trips as well, we’re already planning for it now!
UNTIL NEXT TIME!
