“HELLO AUTUMN” Baby Shower

“HELLO AUTUMN” Baby Shower

I had the pleasure of turning my home into a gorgeous venue for a baby shower to celebrate my sister and the arrival of my niece Autumn.

When we started to plan this event we had a different theme in mind but 2 weeks before the event we completely changed it and decided to honor the arrival with a play on her name.

I got the idea from Etsy while looking for a gift and it escalated pretty quickly from there. These gorgeous prints were purchased from Etsy (papercanoeprintables) and printed from a local professional printer.

I also purchased a few more to place on the dessert table and mimosa bar.

Let’s take a minute to talk about this ballon garland. I purchased the black, white and clear balloons locally but had a difficult time finding rose gold balloons, I found this set of rose gold and glitter balloons on amazon.

Unfortunately I didn’t create a step by step for this but it was fairly simple.

 DIY Balloon Garland

  • Approx 100-120 balloons
  • Air compressor
  • Fishing wire
  • Blunt needle
  • Command hooks
  • low temp glue gun or double sided tape

Step 1: Fill balloons in all different sizes

Step 2: Fill a balloon with sand and tie it to one end of the fishing wire, it will create a weight for the bottom.

Step 3: Cut fishing wire about 3 feet longer than the the length needed. Thread fishing wire through needle and start threading your largest balloons.

Step 4: Continue stringing balloons making sure they are pushed all the way to the end and your using the larger balloons first and smaller ones towards the end.

Step 5: Once you’ve completed the balloon garland use command strip to hang it up. For this project I used 3 command hooks. One on each white post and one at the end against the wall.

Step 6: The ballon garland is almost complete but may need some extra balloons to fill in empty spaces. Also I used smaller balloons to add volume along the bottom. attach these with either a low temp glue gun or double sided tape.

 Menu Board

There’s a couple of things to remember when creating a menu board.

1. You need to know what you’re making in advance because there is printing time.

and

2. When you make a menu board you’re held accountable to have everything on that board!

This was another printable download from Etsy, but this one had a customizable option, so you can print your own dishes.

I printed a 24x36 photo from a local printer (about $20) and attached it to a board bought from Micheals. I found there was a savings of more than $70 doing it this way opposed to printing it on foam board from the printer.

 Donut Cake

This donut cake was a hit and couldn't have been any simpler! The acrylic cake stand was bought from Amazon and Krispy Kreme offers a great service of custom orders. You can order them in any color or design but we went with a simple white glaze, for this stand we ordered 4 dozen donuts. Finish it off with some delicate flowers and VOILA! Donut cake!!!

Let’s also not forget, when throwing a surprise party one detail we might miss is how someone will be dressed when they show up. I was super sneaky and stole this dress out of her closet, so happy that I did because she looked beautiful!!

 Party Favors

I’ve always loved the idea of personalized favors but with large parties it sometimes can seem a little daunting. I decided to order these custom name plates from an amazing local company Vancouver Laser Cut Co. Along with everyone receiving a custom name plate we also had everyone take either a adorable teapot or coffee press. This went with our high tea menu theme.

 Donut Board

For our dessert table we had cupcakes, strawberry tarts, macroons and donuts from Fresh Street Market

To display the donuts I opted to make a mini donut board. This was such a cute easy project and can be used over and over again.

DIY DONUT BOARD

  • Wood plank board
  • Dowels
  • Wooden letters
  • Drill
  • Glue
Mimosa Bar

Mimosa Bar

Well this doesn’t take much explanation.

You need:

  • Champagne
  • Fruit (strawberries, blueberries, pomogranete, blackberries)
  • Juice (orange, cranberry, pink lemonade, grapefruit)

...and that’s it!! Those were the fine little details it took to achieve this beautiful shower.

A huge thank you to everyone that helped put this shower together, I definitely would not have been able to do it without you.
