RECIPE: Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls are the newest craze, and if you haven’t tried it, it’s definitely worth seeing what all the fuss is about. 

I would compare these as a fushion, fruit bowl meets a protein smoothie. I’m a foodie and when it comes to my meals I need a spoon and I need some substance. So this is a perfect alternative to a smoothie which I never feel completely satisfied by. This recipe is very simple and takes very little prep. 

What you will need: 

2 peeled frozen bananas

6-8 frozen strawberries  

1/2 cup of milk (regular, almond, soy)

1 scoop of your favorite protein powder

Garnish

 

Directions: 

Blend 1 frozen banana and half the strawberries until they create little pieces, start to incorporate milk to create a base. Once it’s all blended add remaining banana, strawberries and protein powder. Let it blend until it forms a sorbet like consistency. And your base is done! 

Now it’s just a matter of garnishing your smoothie bowl. I add black chia seeds, pomegranate, black berries and raspberries. The garnishing is all up to what you like and what you have! You can change it up with granola, banana, blueberries etc.
