MAKING BATH BOMBS
Lately my kids have been crazy about bath bombs and I’ve always wondered how safe or good for them they could be. So I decided to make my own, using natural and safe ingredients that I felt comfortable with.
I tried many different variations until I found the perfect recipe. This formula works everytime. I’ve linked where I bought some of the ingredients and listed them below.
Bath Bomb Recipe: Makes 4-6
1 cup Baking Soda
1/2 cup Citric Acid
1/2 cup Epsom Salt
1/2 cup Cornstarch
2 Tbsp Oil (any cooking oil, canola, veg. Etc)
1 Tbsp Water
2-6 drops Essential Oil
3-4 drops Food Coloring
Directions:
Whisk together baking soda, epsom salt and cornstarch in a bowl.
Add and mix oil, water, essential oil.
Once it’s all combined add in citric acid and mix out all the lumps, using your hands at this point is most efficient. Add in food colouring and mix away.
Once it’s all incorporated you should have a sand like consistentcy.
Use any sort of mold you’d like, I used an aluminum bath bomb mold bought from amazon .
Fill both sides of mold and push together (pack enough of the mixture that you have to use a little force to close it)
Lightly release the bath bomb, being very gentle that it doesn’t break. It is best to let it dry overnight to solidify
The result is a perfect, safe, kid friendly bath bomb every time.
You can play around with the essiential oils and make any combo you desire.
Some of my favorites are :
-Lavender
-Orange and Spearmint
-Vanilla and Peppermint
Have fun with it , try different scents, colors and you can even make them for favors or gifts.
Let me know what you think! 😊
